Charlie - Surgery tomorrow

(Charlie, Lucy, Carri, & baby Kale)

Thursday May 27
Thank you for all of the prayers and encouraging emails.  We are so grateful for each one.  My dad has a procedure tomorrow morning.  Right now they are still focusing on balancing all those vital levels (blood pressure, blood sugars, etc.)

The plan is to continue keeping everyone updated on my dad's condition through our blog here. My mom is receiving an overwhelming amount of inquiries about my dad. Our hope is to alleviate my mom's burden of having to respond to everyone individually.

Please do continue with your prayers and encouraging words – these have been an incredible blessing to my mom and to us all.
She loves hearing from you, and is so blessed - and truly 'upheld' - by the prayer support.  Mahalo nui loa

Our family has been studying the shorter catechism in our nightly family devotions.  Part of last night’s reading was out of the book of Isaiah, as we look at how Christ was humiliated for our sake.

What an encouraging reminder of the greatness, and glory of our God.

It helps to re-set my perspective.  It's so easy to get so focused on a situation in your life.  We can become obsessed with it - wanting to fix it, conquer it, kill it, schedule it, use it as an excuse, or even run away from it.

As if we are doing the orchestrating...  As if we have the final say...

Do we really think we are in charge?

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure
and weighed the mountains in scales
and the hills in a balance?

Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket,
   and are accounted as the dust on the scales;
behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.

All the nations are as nothing before him,
they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.

To whom then will you liken God,
or what likeness compare with him?

Isaiah 40:12-18

I hope this doesn't seem inappropriate.  This is so typical of the kinds of things that are going on at our house...

This is Miss Kili (3).  I found her in the bathroom working on her 'latest project.'  Yes, she has on her brother's socks... and her brother's tie.

The kicker for me was what she has 'stuck' all over her legs.....

A glad heart makes a cheerful face....Proverbs 15:13
